Is GATE tougher than JEE?

Sister: 'How can you compare? They serve different purposes and happen at different stages.'

Me: 'Exactly.'

Sister: 'What parameters? (Dodged the question)'

Cricket isn’t the only tough game; the Olympics, Para Olympics, Tennis, Golf, etc., are equally tough. It might just be over-hyped.'

Sister (showing me a video): 'Then why is this guy talking nonsense? Everyone knows JEE is tougher.'

I replayed her words in my mind. Was that a slight dig? 🤔

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?

"Sister: 'Gate is easy,' said my sister who scored well in JEE Mains and Advanced but wasn’t happy with her board marks (around 94%, but she didn’t think it was good enough!).

Me: 'Was that a statement or a question?'

Sister: 'Okay, but...'

My boss called me on a Saturday to let me know he that due to financial reasons, I was no longer needed effective immediatley. 3 days later, he sends me a text asking about work issues. How do I respond?

Sister: 'Obviously, a statement.'

Me: 'I mean, are you comparing the failure rates, syllabus, depth of understanding, question difficulty, or the range of topics covered?'

Me: 'Yes, it is,' I agreed.

Recently, I cleared my JP Morgan coding round. Next, I received mail for a video interview. What kind of questions are asked in this round? How do I prepare myself?

Me: 'Look, if you want to get into the best DU colleges, the board exam is the toughest. If you want IIT, then JEE is the toughest. If you aim for IAS/IPS, CSE is the toughest. For PSUs or IITs for Masters, Gate is the toughest. For foreign universities, GRE/GMAT is the toughest. For AIIMS, it’s the toughest. For becoming a CA, that’s the toughest for you. Want to join the Indian Forces? NDA/CDS is the toughest. The same goes for SSC-CGL/CHSL/IBPS exams.

Me: 'Exactly! The same applies to Gate. When people say Gate is tough, they usually mean it’s tough for PSUs. Gate questions might be easier, but the competition is fierce due to limited seats.'

Me: 'Everyone agrees JEE is tough. It’s impressive to have such a deep understanding at a young age. But let me ask you, which do you think is tougher, getting into Google/Facebook or IIT?'

Why do doctors refuse HRT to menopausal women but hand them out to trans people?

Me: 'So that means it's the toughest exam?'

Me: 'Board exams are easy.'

Sister: 'Really? Huh! Do you know how tough it is to give exams for nearly a month? And if you don’t get over 95%, you won’t get into a good college.'

Do you think that the Democratic Party of the USA is not fighting back against Trump? And if so, why do you think so?

Sister: 'Obviously Google/Facebook.'

Sister: 'No way, it’s not even relevant to compare them.'

Why do people smoke?

Me: 'Now, if Google had a common exam to recruit, which would be tougher: JEE or the Google exam?'

Sister: 'Nothing. But what’s wrong with admitting JEE is the toughest exam?'
